There’s Now an Easy Way to Report Towing Traffic Incidents
In 2015, the Statewide Towing Association (STA) created and launched the Towing Traffic Incident Reporting System (TTIRS). This national, online, and voluntary reporting system makes it easy to report witnessed infractions that may or may not have injured towing personnel. The primary goal of TTIRS is to collect and quantify data so that associations such as our own can utilize it to advocate for Move Over enforcement and education.
Near-Miss Incidents: A near-miss incident is defined as an unintentional, unsafe occurrence involving a tow operator in a traffic incident management area or work zone that could have resulted in an injury, fatality, or property damage.
Struck-by Incidents: A struck-by incident is any incident where a tow operator, or their work vehicle, is hit by another vehicle or object within a traffic incident management area or work zone, resulting in an injury, fatality, or property damage.

Things To Remember
- Incidents can be reported by a tow company representative, tow operator, or surviving family member.
- To maintain the integrity of the data and avoid duplicate entries, a contact name, email address, and phone number must be supplied. Your information will remain confidential and is for verification purposes only.
